Meet the face
behind the posts

Hi, I'm Farah — curious, open-minded, home cook, and Type 1 diabetes veteran for 30+ years.

I was diagnosed with T1D at age 11 during a family trip in the summer of 1991. One day I was a healthy kid; the next, I was in the ER with a life-altering diagnosis. It turned my world upside down, but over time, i've figured out how to shape life on my own terms.

I've learned to livewith diabetes  — not as something that defines me, but as something I manage while staying connected to what I love. That means making thoughtful changes to my routines, adjusting recipes, and using technology to stay ahead of my blood sugars. Through it all, I've learned to keep doing the things I love, enjoying real food, real adventures, and a rhythm that works for me.

This blog is a space where I share what that looks like:

  • the everyday challenges and wins

  • Recipes I've adapted to be diabetic friendly and full of flavor

  • Reflections on how T1D intersects with real life.

Consistency is something I've struggled with, and i"m learning to show up in ways that feel real and sustainable. This blog is part of that process — a space to share, connect, and keep learning.

Whether you're newly diagnosed, a few decades in , or loving someone who lives with Type 1, I'm glad you're here.

Let's talk real life with T1D. The highs, lows and everything in between.

Farah
